Daghang salamat! Bongbong thanks Sara for coffee, chocolates and alliance

Presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos is grateful for BFF Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio as they moved to strengthen their alliance ahead of the 2022 elections.

Marcos, a former senator eyeing a presidency next year, wrapped up his visit to Cebu province with gratitude. Marcos took to Instagram to express his thanks to Duterte following their meeting in Cebu over the weekend.

The two politikos met behind closed doors about Marcos’ presidential bid while they were visiting the province. They also attended two social events, a birthday gathering of Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez and a dinner hosted by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia in her house.

“Mayor @indaysaraduterte daghang salamat!” Marcos wrote on Instagram, sharing photos with the Davao City mayor.

“Salamat sa kape, tsokolate at sa pagsasamahang pagtitibayin pa ng ating pagmamahal sa bayan. ✌️👊,” he said.

The Duterte-Marcos reunion in Cebu came amid mounting clamor for the mayor to seek the country’s top office in the 2022 elections. But instead of changing her mind on reelection as Davao mayor, Mayor Sara revealed that she met with Marcos to discuss how Hugpong ng Pagbagbago in Davao region could help his presidential bid next year.

Sara still reluctant to run for president, supports Bongbong’s 2022 bid instead

Mayor Sara earlier announced that she will seek a third and final term as mayor of Davao City despite pleas from supporters to seek the presidency. The decision came after she and her father President Duterte agreed that only one of them will seek a national post in the 2022 elections. Duterte initially wanted to run for vice president but pulled out from the race and endorsed his former aide and now Senator Bong Go instead. He announced his plans to retire from politics when his six-year term expires next year.
