President Rodrigo Duterte reminded barangay officials belonging to the opposition of their obligations to convince their constituents who have yet to receive a Covid-19 vaccine.
Last Monday, Duterte instructed the local government units to ensure their residents are vaccinated against Covid-19.
“May mga barangay captains na kontra-partido ‘pag ganoon, ‘yung iba naman kapartido mo. So the natural tendency of those of the opposite side will resist even in these matters na ganito,” the Chief Executive said.
Duterte warned that those who failed to effectively perform the duties could face suspension or dismissal.
“Kaya ako sinasabi ko sa kanila either you follow us or you have to answer to Secretary Año ng (Department of the Interior and Local Government). Siya ‘yung nagsu-supervise sa local governments. Ang mangyari niyan, talagang magkakaroon ka ng kaso,” according to him.
“And bear in mind that alam mo ang kaso, even administratively, you can be dismissed. It includes dismissals from office; suspension, mga ganoon; forfeiture of pay; or outright dismissal,” he added.
As of October 25, the Philippine government has administered 56,254,529 doses of Covid-19 vaccine, with 30,298,860 million people having the first dose and 25,955,669 million getting the second or single-dose vaccines.
