President Rodrigo Duterte has welcomed the Joint Statement on Advancing ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ROK) Cooperation during the 22nd ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit.
Duterte joined his fellow ASEAN leaders in a virtual conference on Tuesday.
“[He] underscored the need for deeper regional integration to accelerate post-pandemic recovery,” Malacañang said in a press statement.
The President also hailed the signing of the Philippines-ROK Free Trade Agreement, noting it is needed “for our economies to recover and bounce back.”
He likewise pushed for the full implementation of the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement and the early entry into force of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
Joining Duterte during the first day of the Summits were Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr., Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista, and Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity Carlito G. Galvez, Jr.
