The government’s Covid-19 task force has approved the recommendation of the Department of Transportation to increase the passenger capacity in public transportation in Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces beginning November 4, Malacañang announced Friday.
In a televised briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said public road-based and rail transportation plying the National Capital Region and nearby areas can increase passenger capacity from 70 percent to 100 percent.
“Inaprubahan ng inyong IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) ang rekomendasyon para sa pagtaas ng passenger capacity sa pampublikong transportation, kasama na rito ang road-based at rail transportation na bumabyahe sa Metro Manila at kalapit na mga probinsya mula 70 percent (to) full capacity,” Roque also said.
“Ito ay magsisimula sa November 4, 2021. Maglalabas ang DOTR ng memo tungkol dito,” he added.
On vaccination-related matter, the Palace official said the IATF also recommended strategies for the vaccination rollout for the rest of the pediatric population to achieve the vaccination rate of 80 percent of the target population by December 2021.
“Inaprubahan ng IATF ang mga istratehiya ng NTF at ng Vaccination Cluster para sa vaccination rollout for the rest of the pediatric population para maabot ang vaccination rate na 80 percent ng target population sa Disyembre 2021. So, tuloy-tuloy po ang pagbabakuna ng ating mga chikiting, mga kabataan,” said Roque.
