The Duterte-Marcos bond is as strong as ever.
It was not only former Senator Bongbong Marcos who met with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte in Cebu over the weekend amid of talk of a political alliance in the 2022 elections. Bongbong’s sister, Senator Imee Marcos, also flew to the province to catch up with her bestie.
Sara still reluctant to run for president, supports Bongbong’s 2022 bid instead
Senator Imee, in a latest Instagram post, thanks Mayor Sara for the trust and friendship. The senator, endorsed by the influential politiko in her 2019 Senate bid, said she looks forward to “more exciting times.”
“Mabuti naman ako, Mayor @indaysaraduterte maraming salamat din sa tiwala at pagkakaibigan. Asahan mo ang patuloy kong suporta. It was good to see you this weekend healthy and fully recovered. Looking forward to more exciting times ahead. 😊,” Senator Imee said.
Senator Imee also shared on Instagram photos of her reunion with Mayor Sara in Cebu. One of the snapshots showed the senator holding a green hoodie with the message “SARA ALL 2022.”
The President’s daughter earlier bared on Facebook about her meeting with the Marcoses in Cebu, fueling speculations if she was considering running for president. But the mayor seemed hesitant to seek the presidency and instead offered to help the presidential bid of Bongbong in the 2022 elections. Mayor Sara also thanked Senator Imee for her continued support.
“Manang Imee kumusta ka na? Maraming salamat sa pagbisita at suporta palagi,” the mayor wrote on Facebook.
