Senator Imee Marcos on Monday gave three suggestions to the public on how to observe All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day: Be early, put it off or do it virtually.
She issued the statement after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and local government units (LGUs) ordered the temporary closure of cemeteries in Metro Manila and other areas to avoid crowding during the holidays.
Marcos said the LGUs should set guidelines on visits to the cemeteries.
She suggested online observance through “e-padasal o e-pamisa” in churches.
In cemeteries like the Manila Memorial Park (MMP) there is also “virtual dalaw,” Marcos noted.
“Sa ganitong paraan, kahit limitado ang galaw ng publiko, kumikita pa rin sa panahon ng Undas ang mga kababayan natin, gaya ng nagtitinda ng bulaklak, hardinero at mga tagalinis,” the senator said.
