Malakas sa Mindanao! Bong Go leads VP race in Pahayag survey

Senator Bong Go has edged out Senate President Vicente Sotto III and physician Willie Ong as the candidate to beat for vice president, according to the latest Pahayag survey conducted by Publicus Asia.

Results of the survey showed Go with a 24 percent rating, followed by Ong with 19 percent and Sotto with 17 percent.

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, the running mate of Vice President Leni Robredo, is in fourth place with 12 percent.

Buhay party-list Rep. Lito Atienza, who’s running alongside Senator Manny Pacquiao, is at the bottom with 2.6 percent.

Of the 1,500 respondents who participated in the survey, 17 percent were undecided about whom to vote for vice president.

Publicus Asia conducted the poll from October 11 to October 18, 2021. It used nationwide purposive sampling, with the respondents drawn from a market research panel of over 200,000 Filipinos maintained by a Singapore-based firm.

A breakdown of the survey results showed voter preference for Go was highest in Mindanao, with 41.5 percent of respondents saying they will vote for him.

Ong fared strongest in Southern Luzon with 26.8 percent, while Sotto was the top choice of voters in the National Capital Region with 23.9 percent.

Both Pangilinan and Atienza registered their highest ratings in Visayas, getting 18.3 percent and 3.2 percent, respectively.
