Most Pinoys cite ‘staying healthy’ as top urgent personal concern: survey

Seventy percent of Filipinos are most concerned with staying healthy and avoiding illnesses, the results of the latest Pulse Asia survey showed.

“To have a secure and well-paying job” and “at least to be able to have enough to eat every day” came second and third on the list with 47 percent and 46 percent, respectively.

Other top personal concerns were “to finish schooling or to be able to provide schooling for our children,” “to be able to have some savings,” “to avoid being a victim of any serious crime,” and “to have my own house and lot.”

Meanwhile, Filipinos deemed the following as urgent national concerns:

Controlling inflation – 41 percent
Increasing the pay of workers – 40 percent
Controlling the spread of Covid-19 – 29 percent
Reducing the poverty of many Filipinos – 29 percent
Fighting graft and corruption in the government – 26 percent
Creating more jobs – 25 percent
Providing assistance/subsidy to those who lost their livelihood and jobs because o the Covid-19 pandemic – 19 percent
Enforcing the law on all, whether influential or ordinary people – 15 percent
Promoting peace in the country – 15 percent
Addressing the problem of involuntary hunger – 15 percent
Fighting criminality – 14 percent
Stopping the destruction and abuse of our government – 11 percent
Reducing the amount of taxes paid – 8 percent
Defending the integrity of Philippine territory against foreigners – 5 percent
Protecting the welfare of OFWs – 5 percent
Preparing to gave any kind of terrorism – 2 percent
The Pulse Asia survey was conducted September 6 and 11, 2021 with 2,400 respondents aged 18 years and above.
