Palace on bill resetting BARMM polls: ‘Wala nang gusot ‘yan

By Prince Golez

The postponement of the first regular elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will likely be implemented, Malacañang said Monday.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives have passed a measure seeking to reset the BARMM polls.

Moving the election to 2025 will give BARMM time to “strengthen its foundations for a stronger regional government and economy,” the proposed law stated.

“Both Houses have passed it. There is no impediment for it to become a law. It becomes law if the president does not sign it within a certain number of days,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque told reporters.

“Sa akin po, wala na pong gusot yan. I think the elections will really be postponed and the members of the BARMM will be appointed by the president,” Roque also said.
