President Rodrigo Duterte instructed all concerned government agencies to extend full support for the simultaneous vaccination drive against Covid-19 from November 29 to December 1, Malacañang said Monday.
“The President has directed all government agencies and instrumentalities to extend all possible support to the ‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’ program spearheaded by the Department of Health and the Department of Interior and Local Government,” acting presidential spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said in a statement.
Nograles said the three-day “National Vaccination Day” is expected to vaccinate 15 million Filipinos across 16 regions outside Metro Manila.
“At present, 32.9 million Filipinos and counting are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The ‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’ project seeks to significantly add to this figure, as we have all seen evidence of how increased vaccination rates have contributed to the reduction of active Covid-19 cases and the drop in daily new Covid-19 cases,” he added.
The Palace official also appealed to unvaccinated Filipinos to participate in the immunization program “so that they can provide themselves and their families with the protection and peace of mind that vaccines provide its recipients.”
Nograles likewise thanked everyone for their hard work to ensure the success of the government’s vaccination campaign.
“Together, we can get the jabs done; together, we can beat COVID,” he concluded.
