Kung sino pa ang tunay: Colmenares questions Comelec’s move not to accredit nurses’ party-list group

Bayan Muna chair and Makabayan senatorial candidate Neri Colmenares questioned the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) denial of the accreditation of nurses’ group to join the 2022 elections.

Colmenares said the non-accreditation of Filipino Nurses United (FNU) party-list is a “big injustice suffered by our pandemic heroes.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic has shown to us the heroism of our nurses and health workers who are at the forefront of our fight against the deadly virus. Sadly, it also revealed their sorry state – from their low salaries and benefits, abusive working conditions, and denial of their rights and dignity as essential workers,” Colmenares noted.

FNU has been calling for salary increase and timely release of hazard pay and other benefits that health workers deserve, especially in fighting the health crisis.

“Kung sino pa ang tunay na kakatawan sa interes ng ating mga nars at iba pang health workers, sila pa ang pinigilang lumahok sa darating na halalan. At kung sino pa ang peke at nakikisakay lamang sa hinaing ng mga inaaping sektor, iyon pa ang pinapayagan,” Colmenares added.

Colmenares said FNU is the legitimate representation of the sector and Comelec should reconsider its decision.
