Twenty-nine persons were released from the New Bilibid Prison (NPB) in Muntinlupa City following their acquittal from various crimes, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Saturday (Nov. 6)
The BuCor said in a statement that these persons were released last Oct 9.
The agency noted that those acquitted were among 40 persons who were freed that day, including 11 who have served their maximum sentence.
“They were granted a transportation allowance for traveling their respective home town, as well as their certificate of recommendation, they have a negative result in COVID 19 virus,” the BuCor said
The Bucor said that it has already released 3,695 persons from its various prisons including around 2,000 who benefited from the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) Law.
