Another presidential tandem has passed the drug test administered by authorities.
Presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and running mate Dr. Willie Ong took the drug test at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) headquarters and got negative results. The duo presented their clean drug test results before the media on Thursday.
“Tested NEGATIVE for illegal drugs!” Mayor Isko said on Facebook.
Mayor Isko, speaking to reporters on Thursday, said the poll candidates must take the drug test at PDEA in the interest of public service. He said the people deserved to know whether the candidates are clean of illegal drugs. If ordinary persons are required to submit to a drug test for employment, poll candidates must do the same.

He said apart from committing a crime, a presidential candidate using illegal drugs would have “no moral ascendancy” to lead the campaign against the illegal drug trade.
The drug test challenge for poll aspirants was triggered by President Duterte’s recent revelation that one of the presidential bets was using cocaine. Duterte did not identify the alleged cocaine user but claimed the person was a weak leader with a prominent family name.
Among the presidential tandems who passed the drug tests were Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto as well as former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. Other Senate hopefuls also took the drug test.
