Palace to Pinoys: Wait for FDA move on expanded COVID booster eligibility

Malacañang on Wednesday said it is waiting for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to recommend expanding booster eligibility beyond healthcare workers and high-risk groups.

Acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles told ANC’s Headstart that the government’s Covid-19 task force has also discussed the matter.

“Ayoko pangunahan ang FDA but let’s wait for the FDA to announce. Ang gusto ko lang sabihin napag-usapan na namin ito sa loob ng IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) and we’re just waiting for the FDA to make that announcement,” said Nograles.

“But there’s already a conversation between IATF and FDA with regard to beyond A3 for booster shots. Again, abangan nalang natin. Let’s wait for FDA, ayoko din sila pangunahan,” he added.

Currently, only health workers, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities are qualified to get booster shots.
