Visiting a karaoke bar? Wear a mask when singing: Palace

By Prince Golez

MalacaƱang has advised karaoke-goers to wear a face mask for safe singing.

As Metro Manila shifted to Alert Level 2 until November 21, bars, karaoke places, clubs, concert halls and theaters, and other venues with live voice or wind-instrument performers will be allowed to operate up to 50 percent capacity for fully vaccinate individuals.

“Pupuwede namang kumanta na naka face mask. Eh kumanta kayo na naka face mask,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during a televised briefing Friday.

“Kasi bagamat nais nating mabuhay muli ang mga industriya gaya ng karaoke, ayaw naman nating maging super spreader events yan. So, kung pupuwede ,kumanta kayo na may face mask pero hindi naman po yan requirement ‘yan kung merong espasyo between sa kakanta at doon sa ibang kasama,” added Roque.

Other establishments allowed to operate at 50 percent indoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals under Alert Level 2 are the following:

-venues for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions

-permitted venues for social events

-visitor or tourist attractions

-amusement parks or theme parks

-recreational venues (internet cafes, billiard halls, amusement, arcades, etc)

-cinemas and movie houses; and

-limited face-to-face classes for basic education subject to prior approval of the Office of the President.
