Why vote for Magdalo? Trillanes takes pride of group’s anti-Duterte stance, voice of the oppressed

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is seeking public support for the Magdalo party-list organization in the 2022 elections.

Trillanes, in a Facebook post, endorsed his political group, citing its track record in seeking the impeachment of President Duterte and fighting for the oppressed.

The Magdalo party-list group is currently represented by Manuel Cabochan III in the House of Representatives. Cabochina is the group’s first nominee in the 2022 elections.

“Ang Magdalo Party-list lang ang tanging nag-file ng Impeachment complaint kay duterte. Kung naghahanap ka ng boses para sa mga naaapi at para sa tamang pamamahala, ito na ‘yun,” Trillanes said.

In March 2017, then Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano filed an impeachment complaint against Duterte, alleging involvement in drug war-related killings and corruption under his watch. The complaint stated Duterte violated violated the Constitution, betrayed public trust, and committed bribery, murder, and other high crimes.

The House of Representatives, dominated by Duterte’s allies, however killed the impeachment bid on the grounds it supposedly lacked substance.

Trilla, a former rebel soldier, is eyeing a Senate comeback in the 2022 elections. Trillanes, a vocal critic of President Duterte and his war on drugs, is running for senator under the coalition ticket of Vice President Leni Robredo.
