Duterte grateful to Qatar for typhoon aid

President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his thanks to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his expression of sympathy and solidarity with the victims of Typhoon Rai, Malacañang said in a statement.

During a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Duterte welcomed the Qatari Amir’s offer of assistance for the rehabilitation of the affected communities in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

Both leaders instructed their respective Secretary and Minister of interior government to coordinate directly to facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance from Qatar.

Meanwhile, the President said that Qatar “is and will always be a friend of the Philippines” as he thanked the Qatari Government for the humane treatment of Filipinos living and working in Qatar.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his part, said that Filipinos are appreciated in Qatar.

He also expressed admiration for Duterte’s strong leadership, wishing him the best as he fulfills his mandate.
