Duterte vows political neutrality ahead of 2022 elections

President Rodrigo Duterte assured Filipinos that his administration will stand “neutral” during the May 2022 polls.

“At this early, magbigay lang ng payo that when it comes to the elections, the government, the administration will stand neutral for or against kami, kalaban o kasama sa partido. We will participate in the exercise of that right,” Duterte said during his taped public address late Monday.

The Chief Executive also vowed to hold a peaceful and orderly election next year.

“We will see to it that there will be no terrorism, vote buying, at intimidation and everything that would put a hindrance to an honest election,” he added.

Duterte, whose six-year term as president will end in June 2022, will run for the Senate in next year’s election.
