OFW in Taiwan stands by Anti-Duterte rant: ‘Di naman pinilit sina Mocha Uson, Sass Sasot mag-sorry sa pagbalahura kay Robredo!

A Filipina working as a caregiver has no regrets about criticizing President Rodrigo Duterte online despite being threatened with deportation by the Philippines’ labor attache in Taichung.

Elanel Egot Ordidor told ABS-CBN News Wednesday (April 29) that it was her right to speak out about Duterte’s performance since he is a public official.

“Taumbayan po ang nagpapasahod sa kanila kaya sila nandyan. Taumbayan ho ang nagluklok sa kanila kaya sila nandyan. So bilang taumbayan, bilang isang mamamayan, karapatan ko ang punahin ang nakikita kong hindi tama,” she said.

Ordidor said she also sees no need to apologize over her Facebook posts which were critical of Duterte. She noted that social media personalities identified with the administration never said sorry when they bashed Vice President Leni Robredo, an opposition leader.

“Noong sila Sassot, sila Mocha Uson, sila Andrew sila Thinking Pinoy na binabalahura si Madame Leni, iyon po ba ay inoobliga ng gobyerno na magso-sorry sila sa Vice President natin? Sabi ho nila, ‘Ma’am sige ho, ba-bye,’” she said, referring to bloggers Sass Sasot, RJ Nieto, Andrew Olivar and Uson, a deputy administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

The Philippines’ labor attache in Taichung moved for Ordidor’s deportation for “posting nasty and malevolent materials” against Duterte on Facebook. It said she was liable for cyber libel.

Taiwan, however, rejected the Philippines’ request to deport Ordidor, saying she has the right to free speech.
