Release cash to remaining beneficiaries who haven’t received SAP aid – Palace

By Prince Golez

All cash subsidies under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) should be distributed to those who have not yet received their assistance from the government, Malacañang said.

Yesterday was the deadline for the distribution of the first tranche of financial aid to poor families affected by the coronavirus health crisis.

“Patuloy pa rin dapat ang pamimigay until bawiin ang pundo ng (Department of Social Welfare and Development),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an online press briefing Monday.

Earlier, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that 91 percent of local government units (1,265 out of 1,634) in the country met the deadline for the SAP distribution.

“Tingin ko kung meron namang talagang basehan baka mag issue ng show cause letter ang DILG, pero ang importante makakarating pa rin ang ayuda doon sa natitirang [9] percent na hindi pa nakakatanggap,” Roque also said.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año had extended to May 10 the deadline to distribute the cash assistance due to challenges in areas with a large number of population.
