What caused spikes in coronavirus (Covid-19) infections in Cebu City?
Overconfidence and complacency, according to President Rodrigo Duterte.
As of June 22, the Department of Health has documented 4,449 confirmed cases in the city with 2,146 recoveries and 82 mortalities.
“Ilang beses na dito ‘yung warning, nakakainis na. But really, the danger is there. It’s up to you to decide. ‘Pag tinamaan ka, sorry wala talaga tayong magawa,” Duterte said in his public message Monday evening.
“Kayong mga taga-Cebu ganun rin eh. Bakit marami? Because you were too confident and too complacent about it. Parang binalewala ninyo, ayan dumating,” he also said.
Last June 15, the President reverted Cebu City to enhanced community quarantine until June 30 due to its rising Covid-19 cases.
