Duterte: Government has released benefits of 18 health frontliners who died of COVID

Eighteen out of 32 death benefit checks have been delivered to families of the healthcare workers who succumbed to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) as of June 5, President Rodrigo Duterte said.

In his 11th weekly report to Congress, Duterte on Monday said the remaining 14 checks are awaiting delivery to the beneficiaries and completing requirements.

Under Republic Act 11469 or the “Bayanihan to Heal As One Act,” families of health workers who died from Covid-19 are entitled to get P1 million. Those who would be infected will receive P100,000 each.

Duterte said the guidelines on the grant of compensation for public and private workers who died or contracted severe Covid-19 has been issued by the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment, and the Department of Budget and Management.

Earlier, the President gave the DOH until today, June 9 to distribute the health workers’ benefits.
