Cebu City is now a coronavirus hotspot due to rising infections there, President Rodrigo Duterte said.
In a news briefing late Tuesday, Duterte scored Cebuanos for refusing to follow quarantine protocols.
“You have the highest. Cebu is now the hotspot for COVID. Bakit? Marami sa inyo hindi sumunod,” the President said as he extended the implementation of enhanced community quarantine in Cebu City until July 15.
“Now you Cebuanos got mad when I said that you were hardheaded people. Actually, do not get insulted because I am also a Cebuano. Ang mga Bisaya talaga, maski sa Davao, ‘yung mga Bisaya doon ang titigas talaga ng ulo hindi mo mapasunod,” according to him.
“Iyan ang totoo, iyan talaga prangkahan ko kayo. If you get mad at me, I will get mad at you too. Eh sinabi na eh. Do not f with me because nanonood ako ng government stations,” he added.
Cebu City has recorded the most number of Covid-19 cases in the country, with 5,494 as of June 30. At least 169 have died while 2,723 recovered.
