IATF allows Tesda’s TVET to resume under GCQ

By Prince Golez

Malacañang announced the resumption of the technical-vocational education training (TVET) of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ).

During a Laging Handa briefing aired Saturday over state-run PTV4, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that face-face TVET training and competency assessment may be conducted at up to 50 percent capacity but with strict compliance to minimum health standards, Tesda guidelines and consultation with local government units.

“Pinayagan na po ang Technical-Vocational Education Training ng Tesda sa GCQ at face-to-face TVET training sa hanggang 50% site capacity naman sa (Modified) GCQ subject to compliance with minimum public health standards and TESDA guidelines at may konsultasyon sa mga LGU (local government unit),” said Roque.

In its Resolution 47, the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on Friday also allowed the full online/e-learning trainings; all training programs related to agriculture/fishery qualifications for food production and processing; and distance learning for TVET programs.

The IATF likewise greenlighted the e-learning component of blended learning for TVET programs; dual training system, enterprise-based training, and in-plant training in establishments allowed to operate under GCQ; and virtual assessment and portfolio assessment through electronic means for certain TVET qualifications.
