NCR, Cebu City not ready for MGCQ status, says Palace

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte has three quarantine options for Metro Manila and Cebu City after June 15, according to MalacaƱang.

These areas may slide down to Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), retain their GCQ status, or return to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine status (MECQ), said Duterte’s mouthpiece Harry Roque.

Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases is leaving it up to the President to decide on the fate of the community quarantine imposed in the country. He will announce his decision tomorrow, Monday.

Pero kahit anong opsyon po diyan eh iniwan na po kay Presidente ang desisyon,” the secretary said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV Saturday.

Roque, however, admitted that Metro Manila and Cebu City are not ready to be downgraded to a MGCQ as coronavirus cases continue to rise in the said areas.
