Malacañang on Tuesday hoped Senate Imee Marcos can convince President Rodrigo Duterte to allow face-to-face classes in areas with low-risk of coronavirus infection.
Yesterday, Marcos said she would push for in-person classes in areas with low case numbers, lamenting that internet access is poor in mountainous areas.
“We appreciate the offer of Senator Marcos. Baka naman ma-charm niya si Presidente dahil sa mulat-mula po ang rekomendasyon ng IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) is to resume face-to-face in areas under new normal,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser.
Roque, however, urged the public to “wait for the President’s advice.”
Duterte earlier opposed allowing students to have face-to-face classes until there is an available vaccine against the virus.
“Alam ko naman malakas si Senator Marcos kay President. Let’s see if she can convince the President,” the secretary added.
