Sen. Panfilo Lacson on Tuesday clapped back at Miss Universe Catriona Gray for opposing the proposed Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, when the bill was patterned partly after the laws of her country of birth.
Lacson noted Australia – a strong democracy – has even stricter anti-terrorism laws compared to the bill he sponsored on the Senate floor.
“With all due respect kay Miss Universe Catriona Gray, di ba Australian siya? E kumokontra rin siya pero batas sa Australia mas matindi sa batas natin. Hinango natin ang ibang portion ng batas sa Australia pinapatulong namin dito,” he said in an interview on DZRH radio.
Gray was born in Cairns, Queensland in Australia.
Lacson noted he met several times with representatives of the US and Australia while crafting the bill.
“We cannot do it alone because yan ang universal standard,” Lacson said.
