President Rodrigo Duterte is adamant he has nothing to do with the closure of ABS-CBN Corp., claiming it is an all-Congress operation.

But Duterte has kept close tabs on all the alleged violations raised by House leaders during the 12 hearings of the committee on franchise on ABS-CBN’s doomed franchise application.
From ABS-CBN’s alleged abuse of tax perks to its shell companies in tax havens overseas, Duterte is well informed about Congress’ point of attack against the Lopezes, including Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta’s move to evict ABS-CBN from its sprawling property in Quezon City.
“Ang titulo nila, 44 square meters, Maria Ignacia, it’s supposed to be 44,000 square meters. ‘Yung mga lokohan na,” said Duterte in a speech in Jolo.
Following the House committee’s 70-11 vote to reject ABS-CBN’s franchise a week ago, Marcoleta is determined to make the Lopezes’ forced eviction from ABS-CBN’s home as Congress’ next goal apparently to pressure the family into selling out of the business.
“Yung titulo unahin natin. Pwede natin mabawi ang lugar na ‘yan and at lahat ng improvements. Titulo naman nila, hindi totoo, pwede natin sila i-eject doon,” said Marcoleta.
