Creating cooking content on YouTube has paid off for this actor-turned-politiko.
Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez is the latest recipient of the YouTube Silver Play Button award after earning more than 100 subscribers. The award is among the honors given by YouTube to celebrate the milestone of creators.
Despite his busy work as local chief executive, Gomez has started to explore the new medium this time to share his passion for cooking. His YouTube account “Richard Gomez” so far has more 143,000 subscribers. Gomez, now assisted by a professional team, has started “Goma at Home,” a series of videos showing his cooking skills at home in Ormoc.
In recent videos, Gomez showed his YouTube followers how to cook his fave dishes from pork binagoongan, carbonara, pork humba, chicken salad sandwich, meatballs pasta to omelet with malunggay.
His most watched video is when he harvested pechay from his backyard garden and cooked a vegetable and shrimp dish. At the time, his daughter was using a mobile pone to film the six-minute episode. The video has been watched more than 1.4 million times.
