Malacañang on Friday assured the public that the deployment of one policeman in every barangay should not be a cause for alarm.
The police will ensure that people follow the quarantine rules, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview with GMA’s Unang Hirit.
The Joint Task Force COVID Shield yesterday said that each barangay will have a designated police officer to strictly implement lockdown and social distancing measures.
Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, commander of the task force, lamented that residents appear to have become complacent and start to behind the lockdown rules.
“Magkakaroon po ng police visibility para iyong mga tinatawag nating non-pharmacological behavioral changes, iyong pagsusuot ng mask, pag-iiwas sa pagtipun-tipon at saka iyong paghuhugas ng kamay ay maipatupad man lang,” said Roque.
“Mayroon kasing iba’t ibang mga ordinansa, mga siyudad dito sa Metro Manila at sa buong Pilipinas, ang ninanais po nating magkaroon talaga ng uniformed ordinance na nagpapataw ng parusa para talagang mapasunod natin ang ating taumbayan,” he added.
