Ping ready to explain Anti-Terror Law to Bangsamoro Transition Authority

Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Saturday he is ready to take time to meet with the Bangsamoro Transition Authority to allay their concerns over the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.

Lacson said he is trying to understand the BTA’s request to President Rodrigo Duterte to veto the measure, including the possibility they are afraid of discrimination.

“Nauunawaan ko ang kanilang fears. Kaya nag-o-offer ako na kung meron silang time, I’m even willing to brief and answer questions from members of the BARMM parliament para maliwanagan din nila na hindi ito makakasama, bagkus makakabuti sa kanila,” he said in an interview on DWIZ radio.

“Pilit ko inuunawa ang kanilang move kasi baka iniisip nila ma-discriminate ang Muslim brothers natin, baka magkaroon ng tagging na ang Muslim, terrorists. Maling mali yan kasi hindi discriminatory ang ATL as signed and as presented to the President,” he added.

Lacson pointed out the Muslims will benefit from the anti-terror law since Mindanao has been at the receiving end of terrorist attacks.

Terrorists have conducted attacks in areas like Jolo, Zamboanga, and even Marawi, he said.
