Palace on PhilHealth execom members filing leave of absence: ‘Hallelujah’

By Prince Golez

Malacañang on Monday welcomed the decision of members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) executive committee to take a leave of absence today amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption within the agency.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was also glad that 14 officials, including the state insurer’s President and CEO Ricardo Morales, have allowed the Anti-Money Laundering Council to check their bank accounts.

“Hallelujah is all I have to say. That’s good for them, good for the country,” he said in an online press conference.

On Sunday, Roque urged Philhealth officials currently under investigation on various allegations of corruption to go on leave.

He likewise called the move of regional vice presidents Paolo Johann Perez, Datu Masiding Alonto Jr., Atty. Valerie Anne Hollero, Atty. Khaliquzzman Macabato, Dennis Adre, and William Chavez to file official leaves as “the right and proper thing to do.”
