Lawyer Larry Gadon is not a doctor.
This was the reaction of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque after Gadon, a known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, declared that wearing face masks cannot prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
“Hindi naman duktor kasi si Larry Gadon. Let that be his personal opinion,” Roque said in his virtual presser Monday.
Citing health experts, Roque said the use of face masks and other protective equipment can help limit exposure to the virus.
“Ang mga doctor, ang mga dalubhasa nagsasabi na ang pagsusuot ng maskara can reduce the risk of acquiring the disease by as much as 85 percent. Sasamahan pa yan ng face shield almost 90 plus percent ang probability na mapuprotektahan tayo laban sa COVID,” according to the Palace official.
“Sana ‘wag na tayo mag-antay na tayo ay magiging susunod na biktima. Alam natin sa buong mundo na epektibo ang pagsusuot ng face mask, paghuhugas ng kamay at pag-social distancing,” he concluded.
