‘Hinay-hinay lang’: Palace discourages panic buying as NCR moves to higher lockdown level

By Prince Golez

Malacañang on Monday urged people not to engage in panic buying as Metro Manila and other nearby provinces revert to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting August 4.

In a virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque assured there was sufficient supply of basic goods in the market.

“Ibig sabihin wala talaga tayong plano mag lockdown.

No need to panic. This is primarily to accede to the demand of the frontliners for a break, for a timeout at pagsasamantalahan lang ng gobyerno yung timeout para mas mapaigting ang ating tracing, testing at treatment,” he added.

Aside from Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal will also be placed on MECQ tomorrow.
