Even though convicted carnapper and kidnapper Jaybee Sebastian has passed away, government prosecutors still intends to use his testimony against Sen. Leila De Lima
Government prosecutors have filed a motion asking Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 204 they be allowed to present during the trial Sebastian’s July 12, 2020 sworn statement including photographs, videos and other related documents.
In their motion, prosecutors told the court that “it is the full intention of Sebastian to testify in Court in this cases as regards to the contents of his said Sinumpaang Salaysay.”
“Mr. Sebastian was supposed to be presented by the Prosecution as early as March of this year were if not for the suspension of Court hearings due to the Pandemic,” they said.
“Unfortunately, on 18 July 2020, Mr. Sebastian died due to Covid 19 without having been presented in Court,” they lamented.
De Lima is facing drug charges concerning the proliferation of the illegal drugs trade in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
Sebastian had previously testified during legislative inquiries that he gave millions of pesos in drug earnings to help fund her senatorial campaign in 2016.
