Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III is waiting for President Rodrigo Duterte to get mad at Philhealth officials following exposes about alleged irregularities within the agency.
“I think the executive department should do something about them. Short of bringing in the Marines!” Sotto said Wednesday (August 19) when asked for his reaction to Philhealth’s failure to cooperate with the Commission on Audit (COA).
“Ang hinihintay ko ay magalit si PRRD sa kanila,” he added.
COA officials told senators Tuesday (August 18) that they have been having difficulties obtaining necessary documents from Philhealth to validate its transactions.
Philhealth senior vice president Renato Limsiaco Jr., however, claimed that COA has been granted access to the state health insurer’s records.
