DOH urged: Continue measles, polio immunization amid Covid-19

By Prince Golez

The government Covid-19 pandemic task force has endorsed the conduct of immunization activities regardless of the classification an area falls into.

Malacañang on Monday said that Department of Health (DOH) personnel will be allowed to undertake vaccination activities to prevent measles and polio even as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

“Inendorse ng IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) ang pagsasagawa ng Measles-Rubella and Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activities ng DOH, yung bakuna po,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during his virtual presser.

“Pinapayagan ang mga health personnel na magsagawa ng immunization activities regardless kung anuman ang community status sa lugar kung saan ito isasagawa,” Roque also said.

Local government units, he added, are “strongly” enjoined to support the activity to ensure successful interruption of measles and polio transmissions.
