Ex-Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez rushed to JRMMC over TB, kidney disease

Former Calauan, Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez is suffering from stage V chronic kidney disease (CKD) and tuberculosis, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said on Monday (Sept. 7).

“On Friday night, PDL (person deprived of liberty) Sanchez JRMMC (Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center) for referral to nephrologist and sputum exam,” said Chaclag in a statement.

“Patient PDL has multiple electrolyte imbalance, CKD stage V, pulmonary Tuberculosis-bilateral,S/P CVA with no residuals,” he disclosed.

Chaclag said the hospital transfer was made with the coordination of the Department of Health’s (DOH) One Hospital Command Center.

“Patient is presently confined at the said hospital and the NBP (New Bilibid Prison) medical staff is in constant monitoring of his status,” he assured.

Prior this, Sanchez was taken to the NBP Hospital last Aug. 31 after having fallen ill.

He already tested negative for the COVID-19 virus.
