MalacaƱang on Monday said it respects the decision of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to regulate streaming platforms like Netflix.
But, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque advised MTRCB chair Rachel Arenas to consider the recommendation of the House of Representatives to drop plans to regulate online streaming services.
In a recent post on Facebook, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano described the MTRCB’s plan to regulate Netflix as a “ridiculous idea.” MTRCB, he added, has no jurisdiction over Netflix and other online content.
