Unti-untiin lakwatsa: Palace says tourism will restart with ‘staycations’

By Prince Golez

Staycations are now allowed in hotels in areas under general community quarantine, Malacañang announced Monday.

Allowing Filipinos to go on staycations is part of government’s efforts to gradually reopen the economy amid the coronavirus pandemic, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during his virtual presser.

“Sangayon sa second national action plan ng ating national task force talagang unti-unti nating binubuksan ang ating ekonomiya, at itong pinaplano ng DOT (Department of Tourism) ay alinsunod naman po dun sa sa unti-unting pagbubukas ng sector ng turismo,” according to Roque.

“That marks the beginning of the reopening of our tourism industry here in Metro Manila. Let’s give it a chance. Dahil gaya ng ating ad campaign, puwede naman pong pag-ingatan ang buhay para makapaghanapbuhay ang lahat,” he also said.

The Palace official said the DOT will soon release guidelines on staycations in GCQ areas.
