Malacañang is leaving it to Americans to decide the 2020 presidential election.
When asked if President Rodrigo Duterte still believes United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump deserves to be reelected, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said: “Pabayaan na po natin ang mga Amerikano mag desisyon niyan dahil sila naman po hahalal ng kanilang Presidente.”
It can be recalled that in February, Duterte said Trump deserves to be reelected as he praised the latter’s reaction to his decision to terminate the country’s century-old troop agreement with U.S.
Trump had said he did not mind such a move as it would save money.
Early this year, Duterte decided to terminate the U.S.-Philippines Visiting Forces Agreement after the cancellation of the U.S. visa of his ally, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
He, however, suspended the abrogation of the VFA last June due to “political and other developments in the region.”
