BI mulls deporting 4 foreigners for occupying Boracay forest land

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is looking charging and deporting four foreigners who built establishments in protected forestland in Boracay Island, BI Spokesperson Dan Sandoval said.

“The BI will be coordinating with the National Bureau of Investigation to request more information about said foreign nationals for the verification of their status in the country,” she said.

“Should they be found to have violated immigration laws, they may likewise be charged and subjected to deportation proceedings, upon the resolution of any local cases filed against them,” Sandoval assured.

The four foreigners were among 10 persons the NBI arrested last 24 for operating establishments located in a protected forestland in the popular tourist destination.

The four foreigners were identified as Belgian Michielsen Dirk Josef, Australian Maria Victoria Schafer, and British nationals Stephen Field and Mark Harrington.
