The death of 22-year-old armed rebel Jevilyn Cullamat, the daughter of Bayan Muna Representative Eufemia Cullamat, had been expected, according to President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Kita mo yung kay Cullamat. O ‘di anak niya mismo, babae pa. Ah sigurado patay ‘yan. Babae ilaban mo sa sundalo? Ah patay sigurado,” Duterte said in a televised address Monday.
Jevilyn was killed in an encounter between the military and the New People’s Army in Barangay San Isidro, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur Saturday.
She, who reportedly belonged to the Communist NPA Terrorist’s Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda Platoon of Guerilla Front 19, Northeastern Regional Committee, served as a medic of the NPA.
“Kayong mga Pilipino na mga dreamers, you dream of a country, gusto ninyo ano, ‘yung utopia. It’s not possible here. You have to realize that. Walang red-tagging-red tagging. Talagang komunista kayo, talagang kasama kayo. Time will come,” said Duterte.
