Politics will play no role in vaccine distribution, Malacañang said Thursday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque assured the public that the vaccines against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) will not be used for early campaigning.
“Paano naman magiging politika ito eh kailangan talaga natin ng bakuna? So walang politika diyan. Kung may politiko diyan gagawin ni Presidente ang ginawa ng naunang Presidente at administrasyon na ang mga kalaban hindi bibigyan,” Roque said in his televised briefing.
“Pero malinaw ang Presidente, lahat ng mga mahihirap ay bibigyan ng prayoridad, kapulisan, kasundaluhan, frontliners, at mga vulnerable. Kung gagawing politika ito eh maaalala niyo ang ginagawa ng huling administrasyon. Pero hindi ganyan ang Presidente,” he said.
“Kinakailangan ang bakuna para matapos ang pandemiya at ibibigay yan sa lahat,” he added.
The government has said the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines may begin in the second quarter of 2021. More than 35 million Filipinos will be prioritized to receive vaccines.
