Malacañang believes President Rodrigo Duterte can establish “warm personal relations” with whoever wins the U.S. presidential election.
The race for the White House is a toss-up between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
“All the President needed maybe was a year or two and he was able to foster personal friendship with President Trump. And, even if there is a new President… I am confident that the President can also develop a close personal friendship with Mr. Biden,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview with CNN Philippines’ The Source Wednesday.
“May the best man win as of now,” he added.
Regardless of who wins the U.S. election, Roque said the state department ensures continuity as far as U.S. foreign policy is concerned.
“So, we don’t expect any major changes in bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United States,” he concluded.
