Palace hits Drilon, Robredo for remarks vs vaccine funds: Stop politicking!

By Prince Golez

“Malayo pa ang eleksyon. Itigil ang pulitika.”

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque had this to say following criticisms on the P72.5-billion allocation for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccines under the proposed P4.5-trillion national budget for 2021.

“Paulit-ulit na natin sinabi na tayo ay makakautang na sa multilateral sources, sa bilateral sources para sa P72.5 billion na kakailanganin,” Roque said during a virtual presser Monday.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon earlier expressed concern on the lack of a definite revenue source for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines.

The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo also called for urgent efforts to procure and provide safe vaccines for the Filipino population.

“Kaya nilalagay sa budget yan, miski utangin, kung hindi nasa budget, hindi pupuwedeng gagastusin and I am sure Senator drilon knows about this already having been a veteran lawmaker, the same thing goes for Vice President,” the spokesperson said.

“They should know how the budget works. Kinakailangan nasa budget otherwise hindi maggastos maski ang panggaglingan ay uutangin,” he added.
