Online predators who are targeting children for sex will be held accountable, Malacañang said Thursday.
In a virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he will coordinate with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to investigate sexual abuse and exploitation of children on the Internet.
“Pararating natin yan sa Cybercrime Division ng NBI at ng PNP,” according to Roque.
“I will make sure they will be accountable. Malalaman po natin anong steps being taken by both the PNP and the NBI cybercrime offices,” he added.
Roque was reacting to a UNICEF report that the Philippines saw a 260 percent increase in reports of online child abuse materials when the country was in a strict lockdown.
