Task Force PhilHealth submits latest findings to Duterte

By Prince Golez

The inter-agency task force investigating irregularities in the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) has submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte a new report, recommending PhilHealth executives and medical practitioners to be charged, Malacañang said.

“Naisumite na nila iyong kanilang report kay Presidente. At sang-ayon po kay Secretary Meynard Guevarra kagabi, magpa-file po ang expanded task force ng ilang mga complaints sa Ombudsman laban sa ilang opisyal ng PhilHealth pati ilang medical practitioners na mga kasabwat sa anomalya,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a briefing Tuesday.

Last September, the task force submitted its 177-page initial report to Duterte, which detailed its findings on the alleged anomalies and irregularities in the controversy-ridden state-run insurance agency.

The task force conducted seven hearings; received and evaluated the testimonies of 14 witnesses; scrutinized documents submitted by resource persons; and reviewed the recommendations of other investigating bodies, including the Senate.

It can be recalled that in August, Duterte ordered the creation of a multi-agency task force to investigate investigate allegations of massive corruption inside PhilHealth following

resigned PhilHealth anti-fraud legal officer Thorrsson Montes Keith’s claims of “widespread corruption” in PhilHealth.
