The public deserves to know the amount of coronavirus vaccines.
Former Senator Francis Escudero has called on the World Health Organization to make public the amount of vaccines developed by various suppliers abroad.
The Sorsogon governor made the plea after published repots showed the different costs of COVID vaccines made available in the Philippines and neighbors in Asia.
“The WHO should publish and make know the true cost of the vaccines,” he tweeted.
Escudero shared a screenshot of the Bangkok Post edition last January 16 that showed the prices of COVID vaccine doses.
In the report, the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine cost $10 or P480.56 per dose. The vaccines made by AstraZeneca amount to $8 or P384.41 while those developed by Pfizer cost $40 or P1,922.
The government has recently announced it was securing 25 million vaccine shots from China’s Sinovac BioTech. The amount of a vaccine shot is reportedly more or less P650.
