Sotto: New OFW department could be first step to rightsizing bill

While he is still intent in pushing for his bill to right-size or rationalize the government, Senate President Tito Sotto said on Saturday that the Senate would still prioritize the measure creating a Department of Overseas Filipinos or DOFIL.

“Pinag-aaralan natin, well ako on my part, ako mismo nagsabi na unahin namin ang rightsizing,” he said in a DWIZ interview.

“Kumbaga sa ang feeling ng iba ay magiging complex ang rightsizing, madedelay ang iba,” Sotto said.

“Bukod sa DOLE, andyan ang POEA, OWWA na may bureau na tumatalakay,” he noted.

“Pag ginawa nating DOFIL, wala na lahat yun mailalagay natin sa isang departamento mararight size mo,” Sotto said.

“Pwedeng first step yun sa rightsizing,” he said.
